WHAT: Tell us about your idea to make a difference in your community in 3-6 sentences. What is the unmet need or problem you are trying to address?

As of 2024, there are over 10.7 million out-of-school youth in the Philippines. I am planning to open a new Philippine chapter for our student-led, non-profit organization "WeAreBibli", and my team hopes to provide free L-pads (children's learning pads)---uploaded with our 30+ personally written children's books and personally-coded games---to impoverished communities in the Philippines.

Last year, our team was able to raise $600 and send 20 L-pads to Kenyan children. This year, in addition to Kenya, we plan on sending L-pads to the Philippines to help under-resourced Filipino children as well, in hopes of bridging educational gaps through the power of storytelling and L-pad technologies.

WHERE: Where do you see it taking place? Tell us in a sentence or two.

My team and I will buy and refine (preload our self-written children's books and self-programmed games) the L-pads in Calgary. We will then ship them over to the Philippines and collaborate with the Philippine student-led, non-profit organization "Lidha's Cradle" to distribute the L-pads to local communities in the Philippines.

WHEN: start date / time / length (if applicable) / end date

The WeAreBibli project of sending L-pads to under-resourced Filipinos is an extension of our successful project of sending L-pads to children in Kenya.

Our project of sending L-pads to children in Kenya began last year September, and it is still continuing right now (this is a multi-year project, and we don't plan on ending the project any time soon).

My ambition of sending L-pads to children in the Philippines began this year in August. Because I find this project is so meaningful, I plan on continuing this project in the upcoming years as well (even when I'm in university!).

WHO: Tell us in 3-6 sentences who is involved in your project. Who will make it happen and who will benefit?

We are a student-led, non-profit organization called "WeAreBibli," consisting of a team of 10 executives and over 200 volunteers across Canada, creating 30+ pictorial storybooks.

However, only another WeAreBibli executive and I are involved in sending L-pads to the Philippines. In other words, WeAreBibli is an organization with executives located all across Canada, but the Philippines chapter is founded solely by us Calgarian executives.

We will upload the 30+ children's books, written by the 200+ WeAreBibli volunteers across Canada, as well as our personally-coded games, coded by our team across Canada, into our L-pads that we will send to the Philippines.

In addition, we will collaborate with the Philippine student-led, non-profit organization "Lidha's Cradle" to distribute the L-pads to local communities in the Philippines.

We plan on impacting/benefit the under-resourced children who reside in the impoverish communities in the Philippines. But ultimately, this project benefits everyone who is involved in the project (the WeAreBibli volunteers who write the children's books, the WeAreBibli executive team, members of Lidha's Cradle, and the under-resourced children in the Philippines).
