Jeff suggested slight edits to how I frame pipeline leakage detections in my medium article. In his opinion, detecting pipeline leakages isn’t solely revolved around possibilities and chance. There is in fact a way of maximizing the probability of predicting and detecting pipeline leakages, so it’s more like guestimating rather than by random chance. We have the ability to shift the odds in our favor.

Jeff encouraged us to look into the possibility of conducting on-line internal repairs. This has never been done before—as the repair could potentially contaminate the fluid running through the pipeline—yet it would be highly valuable to discover a potential method.

According to Jeff, the main problem with pipeline leakages is the micro-cracking of external concrete. This is what leads to the corrosion of the steel pipelines and further leaking.
